One of the recent development in the field of nano technology is mesoporous particles. When nano technology was born, it gave birth to incredible number of scientific advancements. Today each and every field is seeing a huge growth, thanks to the intervention of nano tech in such places! From particles to hi-tech rods are being used with the help of Nano Technology!
One such material is mesoporous particles which is a recent development in Nano tech. this one has applications in catalysis, imaging and drug delivery. It was in 1971 when the first mesoporous silica nanoparticles were synthesized independently. It was produced and researches were going on since then to get the exact utility of this substance.
Drug Delivery and Bio-Sensing Methods using Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles
The synthesis process of this particle happens with reacting tetraethyl orthosilicate along with micellar rod in a template form. When synthesized, the product obtained is a nano-sized rods in spherical shape. These are filled with pores that are so neatly arranged in regular intervals. It occupies a large surface area and hence the reason that it is an ideal drug delivering agent!
The large surface area of this mesoporous particles fills the drugs. This allows the particle to carry the drug efficiently. In places where poor water soluble compounds are used, you can look at buying mesoporous silica nanoparticles. These are excellent stable pores and hence they never react when put in even supersaturated solutions.
The above technique is the reason it is used in drug delivering process.
The florescent dye in a sensing device plays a major role in offering better quality image. But, these dyes can offer only up to a certain limit. When the dye is merged along with this kind of nano silica particles it enables passing through cell’s walls. The molecules above this pores will have control over biomolecules and therefore they help the cells to interact with dye giving an efficient sensing!
